Earth Science Week Outreach, K12 at the University
Description: DIIA's Center for Instructional Technologies participated
in the Earth Science Week for Austin middle school students. Dana Deloca,
Joe Sanchez, and Malaika Boyd entertained and educated approximately 350
students using multimedia and advised the students about careers they

Project Manager,
e-Portfolio, conceptualized 2003 and first version live in August
2004
Description: Joe Sanchez consulted with facutly in undergraduate
Connexus program to create an online resource for students to make interdisciplinary
connections between coursework, internships, study abroad, special projects
and papers, as well as personal travels. Working with the faculty clients,
Joe Sanchez conceptualized an online e-portfolio system which would meet
the client's goals and objectives. Joe Sanchez then put together a development
team and managed the project from concept to completion keeping in contact
with the client to ensure the e-portfolio would be a success. What makes
the project unique is that the e-portfolio system is used by academic
advisors to guide student's academic experience.

Showcase, 2004
Description: The Virtual Drag is an interactive website
built for foreign language students, teachers, and enthusiasts. The site
offers an attention-grabbing interface constructed of digitally drawn
images of shops and restaurants on the Guadalupe street "drag"
from 22nd through 24th street. The interactive tool will allow users an
opportunity to practice and listen to foreign languages in "real-life"
settings such as bookstores, cafes, and boutiques.
Conceptualized
and created, SMIL Teaching Prototype (2003):
Description: Facutly development multi media project
created by Joe Sanchez and Marilla Svinki, former Director of Cetner for
Teaching Effectiveness, at the University of Texas at Austin. In the video,
Joe Sanchez demonstrates best practices for teaching with a media console
in a large lecture classroom. The significance of the project is the voice
over between Marilla and Joe where they provide a "directors cut"
discussion of the psychology of Joe's model presentation.

Description: The Office of Graduate studies at the University
of Texas at Austin contracted
my services to create an online, just-in-time, ethics training video.
The streaming video is still used by 3000 students a year. The case study
was presented at SITE 2003
Project Manager,
Horizon Live (also known as Horizon-WIMBA), 2002
Description: Managed the implementation of Horizon Live,
an online presentation tool, that incorporated streaming video, ppt, whiteboards,
and chat. During the one year pilot, Joe Sanchez taught several workshops
and broadcast community events through Horizon Live. Details of the report
