Joe Sanchez, M.S. is completing his doctoral work in the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin with research focusing on Shared Virtual Environments (SVE), Learning 2.0, Social Informatics, and instructional technology. He has presented research about the use and deveolpment of instructional technology at Educause, Ed-Media, SITE, Syllabus, TXDLA, and IOL. His recent work includes a qualitative assessment of the Second Life user experience for a World Literature course at the University of Texas at Austin. Preliminary results from the research study will be presented at the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education Conference in San Antonio, Texas on March 24, 2007.

As an Assistant Instructor at the University of Texas at Austin, he teaches the societal impacts of technology and the use of Web 2.0 and Web 3D as information platforms for knowledge work. Currently he teaches two classes, Social Issues in a Networked Society and Working in Virtual worlds.

As an instructional designer in the Division of Instructional Innovation and Assessment at the University of Texas at Austin, he has desinged and led workshops for faculty about best practices in college teaching, integrating technology into the classroom, building online community, and Learning 2.0. Whether in an auditorium with several hundred people, intimate small group settings, or virtual world meetings, Sanchez Social Media will create innovative learning oppurtunties for corporations, higher education, or special interest groups.
